Hi all,

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

Quick update on my mom… She is still in a lot of pain and her hemoglobin has come down quite a bit and we are sitting on 9.7 (This is nowhere near the 5.4 she reached last time, which is good news). This is a direct result from receiving dialysis everyday in hospital. Many people have asked whether she will require dialysis full time… The answer to this question is not straightforward… We will have to watch how her body responds to regulating her potassium levels once she has fully recovered. For now she is receiving dialysis almost everyday to get rid of residual anesthetic and to clear her system of all the medication she is receiving  daily. On the more positive side, she went for a walk today and she is in good spirits. The doctors are amazed at her progress! Such a fighter… ROAR!

The other thing I want to mention is today is the first day of my sisters new business The Camelot Spa at Melrose Arch.

I was helping her out and got chatting to one of her new employees, Sikelele (pictured below). It turns out, he saved the life of a young 15 year old boy with leukemia, who now lives in America by donating his bone marrow to him in 2013. What an amazing human!

There is a 1: 100 000 chance of finding a bone marrow transplant match.

I encourage you all to register as bone marrow donors today. It is painless and has the potential to save a life, just like Sikelele did.
