Day 34 in hospital for Di.  Hopefully there will be no Day 35, but her body needs to start pumping out red blood cells again to make that a certainty.  Please keep your thoughts with her through this prolonged difficult spell.  She is about ready for the mariachi band to visit and relieve the boredom of hospital walls.  Is somebody on that?

In the meantime, it is back to the waiting game regarding the transplant match.  Following the transfusions she has had, Di will have to wait 6 weeks and then have her blood retested, and our virtual crossmatch can be redone.  It is possible that the match will have held, and Di hasn’t been exposed to any additional or problematic antibodies.

If the match does not hold, a new donor will have to be identified.  That means, friends around the world (with type O blood), that you have 6 weeks to consider your position regarding living organ donation.  Six weeks to decide whether you will step up and try to save a life.  Seriously, what do you have to lose by finding out if you can or can’t donate? And think about what you will potentially achieve, and gain!

One way or another, Di is going to have that party!
